Maine Veterans’ Home Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Application – Earn While You Learn

SAD1 Adult Education has partnered with Maine Veterans’ Home (MVH) to offer another route to becoming a CNA—Earn While You Learn. This program is offered on an ongoing basis to those individuals wishing to work full time as a CNA helper while receiving training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. The CNA clinical education and training costs & expenses are covered by Maine Veterans’ Homes. Students receive wages and benefits for their time as a CNA helper and are employed as CNA’s by the MVH upon successful completion of the course.

Behavioral Health Professional Training

Our community is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great!

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our community to this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to help children who are receiving Behavior Health services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

You will complete 12 online modules then 3 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training.  Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Registration is ongoing till June 30, 2021.

Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register.

The administration fee of $25 is waived for existing SAD1 Adult & Community Education students.

This is a 10-week All-inclusive program designed to enable you to be job-ready in a career in Dental Assisting.  According to the Labor Department, there should be more than 91,000 openings for dental assistants up to the year 2020.  That amounts to more than 30% employment growth, which is much faster than the average for all professions.  The need for so many more dental assistants is easy to cipher:  A large aging population intensifies the demand for quality healthcare and qualified practitioners.

Our program is designed to teach all the aspects of obtaining employment in the field, helping you to prepare to take national dental exams, perfecting your resume and learning how to find employment in Dental Assisting. 

After completing our program, you will be provided the opportunity to sit for The Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. (DANB®), Radiation Health and Safety (RHS®).   Should a student decide to intern in the field, we will work with the student to obtain those internships.

If you prefer to have live, interactive classes, you can view the live class online from anywhere and follow a class schedule.  The next session starts March 1, 2021 and meets for 10 weeks on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 pm. This 10 week Group Fitness and/or 10 week Personal Training Certification will provide you nationalcertifications through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America). This program is designed to teachyou the skills you need to successfully enter these professions on a full-time or part-time basis. We will help you to change the lives of others while you make money doing what you love.

As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will be able to effectively lead any type of group exercise program. Thisprogram, which also includes CPR and First Aid certifications, is the first level of certification you will needorder to start your new career. You can work in any type of fitness facility including: Assisted living andcolleges, even working with children or working with kids involved with sports. Some types of group fitnessinclude: Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, boot camp, interval training, step aerobics, water aerobics, Spinning, and more. As a Personal Trainer, you n choose to work independently with clients for yourself or choose to work at afitness facility where they provide you the clientele. If you are looking to change one life at a time and workclosely with a client, this is a great career. Most group exercise instructors are also personal trainers and do alittle bit of both to supplement their income.

Some of the skills you will need include: Excellent communication skills, creativity, knowledge of nutritionand fitness do’s and don’ts which are taught in programs like ours. This is a career that is constantly changing,so continued education will be essential, which can be accomplished by attending conferences, online resources,health and nutrition materials such as magazines, reports, and books. You will be required to keep up withcredits towards your certifications every year.

This program will provide you all the skills necessary to start teaching and training, passing the certifications,preparing your resume, and finding work. Choose to take Personal Training Certification or Group Fitness, orboth. If you complete the course with a satisfactory grade, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, a Letter ofrecommendation, a list of companies in the field with web site addresses and phone numbers, and we would behappy to provide personal references. Medical Assistant Training Application

SAD1 Adult & Community Education, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital and Academy of Medical Professions have teamed up to offer this amazing "Earn While You Learn" program. 

Medical Assistants work alongside providers, mainly in outpatient facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. They form both administrative and clinical duties, such as welcoming patients, updating patient medical records, taking medical histories, taking blood pressures and temperatures, preparing patients for exams, assisting the provider during exams, collecting lab specimens and much more. MAs are an essential part of a patient care team, helping patients feel at ease and serving as a vital link between patients and providers.

Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle will hire students and pay them a wage while they complete a full-time, nine-week training program. The program will include classroom learning, labs, and clinical rotations. Curriculum is provided by the Academy of Medical Professionals and students will be able to sit for a certification exam to become a Certified MA. Those who successfully complete the course will be guaranteed a job within one of Northern Light AR Gould's medical group offices.
